Guardian Podcast Celebrates The Baby

The Guardian (a sister paper to our very own dear MEN), visited Manchester last week – or at least the Tech Podcast team did – and have just put up their coverage of the Baby’s 60th anniversary.

You can access the links to the podcast (and subscribe if you want) over at The Guardian page.
I covered the Kilburn Lecture by Professor Steve Furber, who is a guest on the podcast along with local champion of the Manchester technology scene Shaun Fensom of Manchester Digital.
Some of the discussion with interviews with original Baby team members goes into depth on topics that I can’t do justice to here without producing reams of rather dry text. It’s well worth a listen.
Towards the end there is a discussion of the local scene in the present. They also touch on some of the local blogs (we get a mention as you might expect), and Shaun points out GeekUp and those perennial observers of the local blogging scene, Mancubist and Manchizzle – the blog rolls on the right-hand side of these last two is amazing.
I’m hoping we’re going to be able to give more coverage of the local blogging scene here over the coming months, so if there is anything in particular you’d like to see us cover, get in touch.
